I am a tenacious industrial researcher, passionate about projects where physics and chemistry meet computer science and mathematics, especially in machine learning and cheminformatics.
My peers perceive me as a versatile academic who delivers robust solutions for complex problems, and as a polyglot who can communicate difficult subjects in understandable language.
I hold a doctorate in applied physics and a master's degree in chemistry. This background in chemical physics combined with a track record in industrial R&D and technical service, gives me a unique perspective on cheminformatics.
Since I believe it is important to continuously develop oneself, to engage deeply in subjects outside daily work, and to contribute to the community, I am for example involved in open source software development - I am author, maintainer and copyright holder of Algol 68 Genie, a modern implementation of the programming language Algol 68.
